The group ILLIT is making a mark in the global music market with their recently released single ‘NOT CUTE ANYMORE’. Their agency, Belift Lab, announced that as of December 3 (KST), the song has reached No. 1 on Spotify's 'Top Song Debut' chart in the US and No. 2 globally. This ranking is based on data collected from November 28 to 30.
The song entered the 'Daily Top Song Global' chart just one day after its release, and within a week of its announcement, it surpassed 10 million cumulative streams on Spotify, signalling a successful launch. Notably, it has garnered strong initial reactions in North America.
This single is a pop genre based on reggae rhythms, showcasing a calm yet dreamy atmosphere, in contrast to the bright and bouncy sound previously presented by ILLIT. The musical style shift has received positive reviews, with its addictive beat, unique lyrics contrasting with the rhythm, and subtle changes in expression highlighted as factors attracting a global fanbase in the killing part choreography.
Additionally, short-form content featuring this choreography is rapidly spreading across social media platforms, and fan-made cover videos are consistently emerging. Industry insiders evaluate that “ILLIT has successfully adopted a ‘transformative concept’ in their first year since debut.”
As the year-end approaches, ILLIT will perform on multiple stages, travelling between South Korea and Japan. They will appear on Fuji TV's ‘FNS Music Festival’ on the 10th, KBS2's ‘2025 Music Bank Global Festival IN JAPAN’ on the 13th, and TBS's ‘CDTV Live! Live! Christmas Special’ on the 15th. They will then meet global fans at the ‘2025 Melon Music Awards’ on the 20th, ‘2025 SBS Music Awards’ on the 25th, and NHK's ‘76th Red and White Song Festival’ on the 31st.
This achievement is expected to serve as an indicator proving the growth model of the next-generation K-pop girl group, raising interest in what global records ILLIT will set in their next steps.
