Actor Ahn Hyo-seop and the group Baby Monster heated up the 2025 MAMA with a stage that seemed to have come straight out of the Netflix animation ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’.
On the 29th at the Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium, Ahn Hyo-seop and Baby Monster presented a special collaboration stage with ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ at the ‘2025 MAMA Awards (MAMA AWARDS)’. Ahn Hyo-seop, who voiced the character Jinwoo from the Lion Boys in the animation, took the stage to lead the atmosphere with an English narration.
He said, “Do you remember this voice? You have reclaimed my soul. I heard that K-Pop fans from around the world have gathered here today. Your energy is illuminating this night with a quiet light,” and added, “Tonight you have given me light, and now I return that light to you. My friends have come here, and it is time to shine the world,” opening the prologue of the live-action version of K-Demon Hunters.
Then, Baby Monster members Laura, Parita, and Ahyeon, transformed into Huntresses, appeared on stage. The three members opened with ‘What It Sounds Like’ and climaxed with the key OST ‘Golden’. Despite the song requiring high notes and technique, they drew admiration from the audience with their unwavering live performance and explosive vocal power.
The ‘2025 MAMA’ began in a somber atmosphere. Host Kim Hye-soo mentioned during the opening, “Before we start, I received very heartbreaking news and my heart is heavy,” referring to the recent high-rise apartment fire tragedy in Hong Kong. He bowed his head, saying, “I sincerely offer my condolences to everyone who has suffered great wounds and lost their loved ones in this sudden accident.”
Despite the atmosphere of mourning, the live collaboration stage of ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ created by Ahn Hyo-seop and Baby Monster provided the audience with intense immersion and catharsis for a moment, becoming one of the highlights of the award ceremony that day.
